The SDA Build team consists of lived ability people that share your hope, as a person living with a disability, of wanting the choice of where and how you live. We believe that having a safe home in an area of your choice is so important in helping you live in YOUR community.
We want you to be able to have true choice and control.
What is Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)?
There are over 400,000 Australians living with disability who have an individual NDIS plan, and it’s estimated that 28,000 participants are eligible to live in Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). However, currently only 16,000 are actually in suitable accommodation.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) has stated that over 6,000 young people with a disability are living in aged care, with 2,000 young people entering aged care annually. We believe these statics are unacceptable and have set ourselves a goal to help as many people as possible in SA find a home.
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is a range of housing options for people who have extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. SDA homes are constructed to be more accessible and robust for someone with a disability.
Not all National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants will be eligible for SDA housing. If you believe that you are you should consult with your Specialist Support Coordinator or your NDIS Planner.
If you are enquiring about a Robust Build, Compliant, SDA Registered House
If you are enquiring about an SDA Robust Build, Compliant, Non-Registered House
What’s the difference between a Registered and Non-Registered House?
From a build point of view, nothing. But only a person with SDA funding from the NDIS can occupy an SDA Registerd House. However, even without direct funding we can construct your home to the same specifications and standards as a registered property.
